Journalists are usually not judges

Last week, the Swiss Press Award of the " Fondation Reinhardt von Graffenried " was presented in the press center of the Federal Palace. It is undoubtedly the most important media award in the country. There was great joy, and even a Federal Councilor, Ms. Keller-Sutter, paid her respects. There is nothing better for the fourth power in the state than when the first power gives it state legitimacy for its importance. This is called "relevant to democracy."
Sylvia Revello, Boris Busslinger and Célia Héron were america rcs data named "Journalists of the Year" by "Le Temps" for their revelations about sexual harassment at the French-speaking radio and television station RTS. The focus of the award was the French-speaking star presenter Darius Rochebin, whom the newspaper accused of assault and abuse of power of the worst kind. The only unfortunate thing was that the independent experts appointed by the SRG had just concluded that Rochebin was not guilty of sexual harassment or bullying. The star journalist, who has since flown to France, is already back hosting his talk show on the French news channel LCI. To be honest, a first-class rehabilitation that was hardly expected.
The fact that this story, which has been proven to be false at least in Rochebin's case, has now been awarded the highest Swiss journalism prize seems strange. Especially since it is not a literary prize and the highly endowed jury chaired by Fredy Gsteiger already knew about Rochebin's "acquittal" before the awards ceremony. They can write on their homepage for a long time: "The research also covers the case of Darius Rochebin, the TV station's star presenter, who abused his influence to obtain sexual favors."
