Rostelecom launched an intelligent transport system (ITS) in Perm. The work was carried out by order of the Ministry of Transport of the Perm Territory as part of the national project "Safe and High-Quality Highways".

"Due to the growing demand for freight and passenger transportation, it is necessary to ensure a balance between the estimated level of capacity of the road network and its actual load. In addition, it is now possible to remotely monitor the proper level of maintenance of road facilities," said Sergei Veshnyakov, Minister of Transport of the Perm Territory.

ITS is a unique development, which was designed specifically for the current and future needs of the Road Safety Center, the Perm Road Traffic Directorate, the Perm Region Road and Transport Directorate, and the Perm Department of Roads and Transport.

"In March of this year, the company's specialists installed a single platform for managing the transport system, which became the core for the functioning of the customer's internal personnel services. The second stage is currently underway. Communications specialists have installed 105 detectors capable of recognizing cars on busy roads in the capital of the Kama region. The cameras identify the state registration plate, as well as the make, model and color of the car. By the end of May 2023, we will have upgraded another 20 previously installed systems. After the upgrade, they will be able to perform the same functions as the new detectors," said Petr Kozlovsky, Director of the Perm branch of PJSC Rostelecom.
