Business in Russia

First of all, this concerns the quality of the equipment. According to Alexey Mayorov, the company focuses on functionality, with 17% of profits going to research and development. Although cameras remain the main line of business, the company also produces video encoders, video servers, audio systems, accessories, software for video management, data storage, video analytics, access control, and will soon begin to supply radars integrated with cameras.

Regarding prices, Alexey Mayorov noted that it is necessary to consider not only the cost of cameras, but also the entire cycle of work with the surveillance system. According to Axis, the price of cameras does not play a major role in the total cost of ownership, since it accounts for 16%, while maintenance accounts for 19%, and the rest is for implementation, network, data storage, etc.

Axis has been operating in our country for kazakhstan mobile database years, and, according to Alexey Mayorov, the business has been growing all this time: “We are consistently fulfilling the sales plan, and this year the company’s staff has increased.”

In response to Russian trends such as import substitution and sanctions, the company is trying to diversify its activities. "We work in different segments, not just those affected by import substitution. For example, we are increasing our focus on retail and commercial projects, where it is not important who produces the equipment," explained Alexey Mayorov.

In addition, production in Russia was launched in 2016. "First of all, this is due to the optimization of costs and logistics, simplification of the delivery and planning process. This approach allows us to resolve various issues more quickly, since some projects, in accordance with the import substitution trend, require the use of cameras made in Russia," said Alexey Mayorov.

According to him, production is expanding - initially, eight models were produced, and now about twenty: "Economically, it is profitable and convenient. Of course, we will not produce the entire line of cameras from 200 models here, but we assemble the most popular ones here."

From cameras to solutions
Demand for video surveillance equipment is growing rapidly, but price competition is making it increasingly difficult for vendors to increase turnover and profits, notes the analytical company IHS.
