At our second Mindset by Shakers event , three leading figures in the world of entrepreneurship: Héctor Mata (CEO of Shakers ), Goiko Llobet (Co-founder of GrowPro ) and Nico de Luis (CEO at Amperand ) shared with all attendees the experiences and lessons that have led them to grow their startups.
What drives a Startup to become a Scale-Up?
The key of keys: build a winning team
Get more investments? A bigger office? Not really. Becoming a scale-up company starts with something as simple (and as complex at the same time) as focusing on building a winning team . A company cannot scale without having a good team willing to give their all.
The desire to learn and ambition are welcome if your goal is to become a Scale-up. But that's not all. Your team must believe in the project as much as you do and be able to adapt to unforeseen events that may arise. And if you also have highly specialized workers, even better.

Making sure the talent fits your company's cultural fit is another key factor.
The best teams are made up of professionals who are not afraid to make mistakes . They are risk-takers, they like to experiment and learn from their mistakes (at lightning speed, of course).
One of the core values of the Shakers team is FAIL 1X, CHASE 10X. We have created an environment where we can act without fear , consensus is not needed for every action, and experimentation and failure (plus learning) are par for the course as long as they are done quickly and simply. Fail fast, grow faster -

Your team behaves according to how you measure it
Leaders also play a leading role here and must be able to perfectly communicate to their teams what they expect from them and how they will be measured.
Measuring is key, but so is communication . We have had a few situations where we were measuring things but we didn't know how to communicate this to the team and the parties involved hadn't been told that it was important. Things have worked when we have managed to bring all this down to earth and we have known how to communicate how we are measuring them.

Empowering employees
Giving your team a detailed to-do list and closely monitoring their every move on a daily basis doesn't work. Autonomy is a great ally in encouraging your team to make decisions.
They will have the wings to come up with their own panama number dataset that contribute to achieving the company's common goal. Their motivation will increase and they will feel recognized if their decisions and bets are bearing fruit. As Héctor Mata said at the event, the key is + doing - thinking, learning from experience.

Company culture, the energy source of your team
Growth is in your sights, and there is no force that drives it better than a truly solid culture . The company's growth has to go hand in hand with the team's personal and human growth.
Creating a company culture is not about filling a presentation with phrases that sound like bullshit as if it were an open bar, it is about creating a real bond that pulls the team together, moves them and makes them understand why they get up every day. It is the beacon that makes them row in the same direction.
