How to work from home properly The current spread of the corona virus is leading to a drastic change in the work culture

Home office is often the solution. But this is not a given. A company must first be able to offer home office. The key word for success: user experience.

Home office means that a company's employees do their work from home and travel is reduced. What sounds attractive to many employees and can generally be a sensible measure in times of a virus epidemic, however, causes major problems for companies.

The usual channels of communication both within the company and with customers are suddenly disrupted. Communication often takes place in parallel and without coordination - this leads to a loss of efficiency and, not least, confusion and anger on the other side.

Bernd Lohmeyer from lohmeyer Business UX recommends: "Companies must ensure that their data and processes are accessible via the Internet . They must also ensure that decentralized work is integrated into their customer and employee journeys."

This means that the technical challenges are no less important. Employees can often only communicate via private infrastructure. But not all employees live in an urban center. Lohmeyer: "Especially in rural areas, problems arise due to slow or unstable internet connections. Video conferencing can quickly become a fiasco."

And even if the internet connection remains stable, efficient online co-working asia gambling data requires not only a well-developed IT infrastructure but also tools and the necessary know-how among users. Most companies are currently not sufficiently prepared to implement home office as a solution in the current crisis situation in such a way that the changed work structure does not lead to economic damage.

Companies are therefore faced with the challenge of quickly implementing measures to adapt their processes and infrastructure to the changed working conditions - also in order to be better prepared in future crisis situations. Larger companies in particular have increasingly focused on optimizing their digital work processes in recent years.

"From now on, at the latest, the home office must be consistently considered and integrated," emphasizes Lohmeyer. "On the one hand, this requires competent process management, and on the other hand, the appropriate 'craftsmanship' implementation by IT experts." For many companies, however, the question already arises as to what can actually be done in-house in this regard. Assistance from external consultants and service providers is often necessary.

Against this background, it is important to make company data and processes accessible via the Internet. This means: first analyze and then digitize. It is not just the technical aspects that need to be considered. Lohmeyer explains: "User and customer experience in particular must be the driving force. This way, the company remains functional, even if half of the workforce is not working on site."

As a result, companies are streamlining their cost structure during the current crisis, while at the same time becoming more attractive as employers with flexible working models. This crisis shows how important digitalization is for all companies. It's time to tackle it consistently.
