The transition to edge computing requires telecom operators to have skills in network and systems design to develop data communications strategy and architecture; network engineering to install and integrate devices, software, and systems; network innovation to improve system performance; network maintenance to troubleshoot and resolve emergencies; database management to store, distribute, and analyze data; and security to minimize fraud, manage risk, and meet regulatory requirements.
The rise of cloud solutions, automation and managed services will reduce demand for on-site IT setup and maintenance services.
The first two technology trends – connectivity armenia mobile database edge computing – lay the foundation for the third: next-generation transport. The shift to autonomous, connected, electric and intelligent technologies has huge implications for air and land transport, and could make the movement of people and goods far more efficient and environmentally friendly.
There will be increasing focus on electric, hydrogen and hybrid propulsion systems as new types of propulsion for land and air transport. The expected growth of data traffic and autonomous applications may allow companies to expand their markets, reaching new consumer segments in previously unserved places.
As transportation evolves, carriers will need to increase capacity to support mobility, especially in remote areas, and provide seamless backup in case of emergencies. They will also have the opportunity to combine core communications capabilities with in-car technology and real-time mobility data to offer solutions such as hands-free calling, infotainment systems, smart charging networks for electric vehicles, and vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technology that allows cars to communicate with their surroundings, including other cars and human drivers.
Telecoms will need people with skills in network design to develop algorithms for connecting cars; network design, innovation, and maintenance to connect cars to infrastructure; automation to use machine learning and artificial intelligence in infotainment; IoT architecture to enable voice recognition and gesture control; UX design to improve user experience; and data science to collect and process data.
